Exclusively for Friends of the Palace: Half Day Beginner’s Writing Workshop
Thursday April 23 2 - 5pm
A half day workshop on how to find and develop ideas using the Palace and its Gardens for inspiration. We'll tackle crafting endings that work and barriers that trip us up.
Beginners welcome, or a refreshing treat for more experienced authors.
The workshop tutor is author and storyteller Beth Webb, who has seventeen published titles to her name.

What to expect from the workshop
Also suitable for more experienced writers who’d like to refresh their ideas.
How to get inspiration – and how to hold onto it.
How to develop ideas – story structure and endings.
Breaking barriers – what’s stopping you?
Stage 1 - We take a stroll around the grounds or house, depending on weather, talking with the participants about how to get ideas with note-taking, photos, or making sketches.
Stage 2 - We return to the workshop room – open discussion about why starting to write can be difficult, then what to do with our gleaned ideas, followed by a short talk from Beth on how to structure a simple story. Then we start writing!
Stage 3 - Participants will be encouraged to share their story ideas in an open, friendly and informal discussion about what works, what doesn’t, and why.
Stage 4 - Participants will leave with confidence and ideas.
